First impressions count. People you meet notice your clothing, shoes, eyeglasses, make-up, hair and smile. But they don’t simply see that you’re smiling, they observe details, like whether or not your teeth are straight. Researchers have conducted studies to prove that people with straight teeth are presumed to be smarter, more successful and popular and even healthier. If you’d like to improve your first impression with a straight smile, then consider
Invisalign from
Dr. Arthur Schramm at Schramm Dentistry in
Charlotte, NC.
Unlike traditional braces that rely on metal brackets and wires to move teeth into their proper alignment,
Invisalign uses plastic aligners. These aligners are made of clear, BPA-free plastic. So, speaking of impressions, no one may even notice that you’re wearing braces. Furthermore,
Invisalign aligners are removable. So, while Dr. Schramm will want you to wear your aligners for as many hours as possible every day, you’ll be able to remove them for meals, brushing and flossing, and the occasional special event.
The Invisalign Treatment Process
Once Dr. Schramm determines that you’re a good candidate for
Invisalign, we’ll take x-rays, photos and impressions of your teeth. These will be sent to the
Invisalign lab, which will create a 3-D model of your teeth. From this, Dr. Schramm creates a treatment plan that will show you how your teeth will move. The treatment plan will also serve as the blueprint that
Invisalign will use to fabricate your customized aligners.
Your
Invisalign aligners arrive in sets of two, one for your top arch and one for the bottom. You’ll wear each set for about two weeks and then move on to the next set. As you progress through the series, you’ll gradually see your teeth shift into place. And because
Invisalign aligners don’t need to be adjusted, Dr. Schramm will only need to check your progress every six to eight weeks. Treatment usually takes about one year and then you’ll have a smile that will make an awesome first impression.
